Climate Change is the biggest issue facing our planet. But, by working together, we’re able to do something about it.
For us, tackling climate change isn’t something that’s tacked onto our agenda, it’s at the heart of our business. We’re adopting a radically different approach to energy, both how we make it and how our customers use it. In other words, we’re on a mission to change energy for the better and we would like you to join us on this journey.
Recognising the responsibility we have to the planet, we know that our current business is not sustainable into the future. And, across E.ON UK we plan to invest £1bn over the next five years in renewable energy.
We’re also looking at how we make energy and are already investing heavily in lower carbon energy solutions, such as renewables and efficient gas-fired generation.
Our newly created Sustainable Energy Team is looking at how technologies such as microgeneration and distributed energy can be used across the public sector and private businesses.
And internally, we’re taking an action across the business to be more efficient in our energy usage. One of the steps we have committed to on our journey is to make a significant reduction in the carbon dioxide emissions resulting from our business activities.
In addition, we’re actively encouraging our employees to be more energy conscious and, to that end, we’ve appointed low-carbon champions across each of our businesses. Five of our sites are currently piloting a scheme to engage all our colleagues in reducing wastage and we are looking to roll this scheme out across all our buildings.
