The university has made a commitment to the protection of the environment, conservation of natural resources and to sustainable development. An essential part of implementing that commitment is their policy on responsible energy management throughout a campus that covers buildings on 16 separate sites with an internal area of some 370,000m2. Whilst there have been changes within the estate and in its operation the methods which the university has adopted to measure and control its energy management have ensured that it continues to meet and exceed its targets.
King’s College London first published an environmental policy in 2001 before climatic change had the political and societal emphasis that is does today.
